Who this covers
This policy explains how Daniel Lovett, doing business as Daniel Lovett IT Consulting (“I”, “me”) handles personal information collected through this website, daniellovett.dev, and through email sent to hello@daniellovett.dev. I’m an independent IT consultant based in Dallas-Fort Worth, Texas, and I’m the person responsible for your information.
What I collect
When you visit the site
The site has no analytics, no advertising, no social media widgets, no contact forms and no accounts. Fonts and scripts are served from this site itself, so no other company is contacted when a page loads.
Like every website, the site is delivered through a hosting provider, Cloudflare. To deliver pages and protect the site from attacks, Cloudflare necessarily processes technical information such as your IP address, browser type and the pages requested. I don’t keep my own visitor logs and I don’t use this information to identify you.
When you email me
If you email me, I receive whatever you include: usually your name, email address, and details about your business or home, your equipment and what you need help with. You decide what to send. Please don’t email passwords or other credentials; if I need access to a system, we’ll arrange it securely.
When you become a client
If we work together, I also keep what’s needed to do the work and run the business: contact details, site addresses, quotes, invoices and payment records, and notes about your systems.
How I use it
- To reply to your enquiry, arrange calls or site visits, and prepare quotes.
- To carry out, support and document the work you hire me for.
- To send invoices, keep business and tax records, and meet legal obligations.
- To keep this site and my systems secure.
I don’t sell personal information, share it for advertising, or add you to a mailing list. I won’t send you marketing emails unless you ask for them.
Client systems
Installing or managing IT can mean I come across data stored on your devices, networks and accounts. I access it only as far as the job requires, I don’t copy or keep it beyond that, and I treat it as confidential. The details of that access are set out in the agreement for the work, which takes priority over this policy where the two differ.
How long I keep it
Enquiries that don’t lead to work are deleted within two years of our last contact. Client records are kept for as long as we work together and then for as long as tax and business record-keeping rules require, typically seven years. Passwords and access details for client systems are removed when I stop supporting those systems.
Security
Security is my trade, and I apply it to my own records: encrypted devices, multi-factor authentication on every account, a password manager, and HTTPS on this site. No system is perfectly secure, but if a breach ever affects your information I’ll tell you promptly and do what the law requires.
Your choices and rights
You can ask me at any time to:
- tell you what personal information I hold about you and give you a copy;
- correct anything that’s wrong;
- delete your information, unless I have to keep it for legal or tax reasons;
- stop using it for a particular purpose.
Email hello@daniellovett.dev and I’ll reply within 30 days. I won’t treat you any differently for making a request. Depending on where you live, privacy laws may give you further rights, and I’ll honor them.
Because the site doesn’t track visitors, there’s nothing for “Do Not Track” or Global Privacy Control signals to switch off.
Children
This site and my services are for adults and businesses. I don’t knowingly collect information from children under 13. If you believe a child has sent me personal information, contact me and I’ll delete it.
Changes and contact
If this policy changes, the new version will be posted here with a new date at the top. For anything about your privacy, email hello@daniellovett.dev.
